Is your production facility contributing to a sustainable future?

Sustainable future

With the United Nations conference on climate change in Paris, policy makers around the world are taking action to limit climate change as much as possible. The agreed measures and policies are introduced to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The main focus is energy saving and transition to renewable energy, but efficient use of resources will contribute to a large extent as well.

Linear economy

At the heart of our industrial development still lies a linear ‘take, make, dispose’ economic model, which relies on large quantities of cheap, easily accessible materials and energy.

This model has generated an unprecedented level of growth but is reaching its physical limits. Increased price volatility, supply chain risks and growing pressure on resources makes it necessary to rethink our use of energy and materials.

Circular Economy

A circular economy which aims to keep materials, components and products at their highest utilization and value at all time is more efficient and therefore creates value to your customers and contributes to a sustainable future.

The Ellen MacArthur Foundation has analyzed the potential of the circular economy and published an executive summary to get more insight in the possibilities for industry: "Towards a Circular Economy: Business rationale for an accelerated transition". (source: Ellen MacArthur Foundation)

Are you contributing?

To contribute to a circular economy you have to look at your business in relation to the full industrial value chain(s) where you are part of in terms of resource and energy use but also valorization of your side streams. Many companies are adopting this strategy at corporate level. Nobody wants to be the weak link in the value chain and become a liability or irrelevant. The question however is where to start at your production facility.

Industrial co-creation

STB solution beliefs that industrial co-creation is the way forward: reaching out to and cooperating with your industrial value chain partners is key in finding the right solutions. If you do so you will be inspired and find new opportunities and new business models to add value to your customers and create sustainable business.
